Official. Canon’s EOS R8 Mark II is out: $1,899 body, $2,099 with the RF 24-50mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM. Late October shipping. The original R8 stays on the list. You can pre-order at Amazon/B&H Photo Video.
The two things everyone wanted: 7.5-stop IBIS (7 at the edges, with a coordinated IS lens) and a rear joystick. Same 24.2MP sensor as the R8 / R6 II. Same 2.36M / 0.7x EVF. Same LP-E17.

Canon Rumors just patched the R8 Mark II sheet again — two days before the rumored September 15 New York date. Body price is now $1,899 (was $1,799). €1,879 stays. Canon is calling it “fully” weather-sealed. Ships late October / second half of October.
Still a leak, not a Canon store page. CR says these bits are confirmed and that the surprises are done.

Canon Rumors’ latest: the EOS R8 Mark II may not be Canon’s cheapest full-frame. A second body — CR is calling it the EOS R9 for now — is “said to be coming at some point in 2027.”
Name is a placeholder. Confidence is low. CR: not putting any level of confidence into it, just that it seems plausible. The picture is an unofficial RP-with-an-R9-badge mockup, not a leaked camera.

Canon Rumors says these are the first real EOS R8 Mark II photos — a Reddit dump that looks like FCC / certification shots, not Canon ads. CR: “These images are 100% real.” Still not an official reveal.
Yesterday’s mockup is the one people called “too Sony.” This set has EOS R8 Mark II printed on the top plate.
Canon Rumors just dumped a full EOS R8 Mark II leak sheet — still unofficial, still tied to September 15 in New York. This is the spec update after the IBIS / same size / ~$1,800 story, not a new launch date.
The headline adds: 7.5-stop IBIS, no mechanical shutter, 20fps pre-shooting, and a 3D video from 2D mode Canon Rumors cannot explain yet.

Mark the calendar. Canon Rumors now says the EOS R8 Mark II lands on September 15, 2026 — depending which side of the planet you are on.
This is no longer a vague “sometime in September” rumor. The same update also claims Canon kept the R8’s size and weight, finally added IBIS, and will ask about $1,800 for the body.

Scratch the 32.5MP assumption. The latest update from Canon Rumors says the Canon EOS R8 Mark II is lined up for a full-frame ~24MP CMOS sensor — not the 32.5MP chip used in the EOS R6 Mark III and Cinema EOS C50.
That is a meaningful course correction for anyone expecting the entry-level full-frame body to inherit Canon’s newest stills/video resolution platform.
