Canon Rumors just patched the R8 Mark II sheet again — two days before the rumored September 15 New York date. Body price is now $1,899 (was $1,799). €1,879 stays. Canon is calling it “fully” weather-sealed. Ships late October / second half of October.
Still a leak, not a Canon store page. CR says these bits are confirmed and that the surprises are done.
New / changed:
- Weather sealing — Canon wording: “fully.” CR: not R1 / R5 II grade. No IP rating given
- Body $1,899 / kit with RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM $2,099
- Extension grip $99 · Speedlite EL-5 II $379
- No GBP yet
- ~131.5 × 90.0 × 80mm, ~500g body only
- Register People Priority · Slow & Fast mode · 1/200s flash sync
- −7.5 EV AF · C-Log 3 / 709 / PQ / HLG · 2.4 / 5 GHz Wi-Fi
- Official line: “Modern EOS Aesthetic with a Classic Camera Design Philosophy” — CR’s translation of the old “retro” rumor
Unchanged from the earlier sheet: 24MP, 7.5-stop IBIS, 40fps e-shutter, no mechanical shutter, 20fps pre-shoot, 4K/60p, joystick, side SD, LP-E17. Photos: the certification-style set.
CR says $1,899 makes the EOS R9 under-R8-II rumor look more plausible. That is still a guess.
