Official. Canon’s EOS R8 Mark II is out: $1,899 body, $2,099 with the RF 24-50mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM. Late October shipping. The original R8 stays on the list. You can pre-order at Amazon/B&H Photo Video.
The two things everyone wanted: 7.5-stop IBIS (7 at the edges, with a coordinated IS lens) and a rear joystick. Same 24.2MP sensor as the R8 / R6 II. Same 2.36M / 0.7x EVF. Same LP-E17.

Confirmed, not leaked:
- 6 fps mechanical / 40 fps electronic — the “no mechanical shutter / 1/16,000” leak was wrong. Top speed is 1/4,000
- 0.5 sec pre-capture at 40 fps in JPEG, HEIF or Raw. Raw Burst is gone
- 131 × 90 × 80mm · 546g with battery and card (~499g body only)
- Side UHS-II SD door, still one slot
- $90 extension grip (height only)
- Register People Priority, Slow & Fast video, color filters / Filmtone
- CIPA 270 / 150 shots (LCD / EVF). Worse than the first R8 on the screen

Looks like a miniature a7 with Canon’s R3-style grip rubber. Combined off / stills / video switch. Full-width 4K/60 from 6K, C-Log 3, headphone + mic, USB-C 10 Gbps. DPReview’s first look likes the handling and flags the battery as the leftover R8 problem — IBIS made it more obvious, not better.
Pre-launch “fully weather-sealed” and 3D-from-2D video are not in the published first-look spec list. Don’t bank them yet.
