What's actually the best strap for a Leica Q2 because I am totally lost here and need something by this weekend for a trip to Chicago? Sorry if this is a super basic question—I just bought the camera (huge splurge, my bank account hurts) and the stock strap feels like wire digging into my neck. I tried looking at Artisan & Artist silk straps online, but I keep reading mixed reviews about them stretching out over time, and honestly I have no idea if $100+ for a piece of rope is insane or normal in the Leica world. (I also looked at Cooph straps briefly, but are they actually comfy?) Anyway, I just want something soft under $80 that won't scratch the metal body. Any suggestions for a total beginner?

this question comes up a lot tbh. since you need it before your trip and want something soft under $80, here are your best practical bets:

> honestly I have no idea if $100+ for a piece of rope is insane or normal in the Leica world I've been through three of these strap phases and the pricing is completely absurd. Tried the silk options years ago and they frayed fast. If you need something right now, get the Peak Design Leash Camera Strap. It costs around $50, doesn't scratch the body if you use the anchors right, and saves your neck without the ridiculous tax.

To add to the point above: this comes up a lot tbh. Since everyone already covered the usual suspects, here is the short summary:

  • Leica tax is real and overpriced rope isnt worth it
  • Grab Peak Design Leash Camera Strap for around fifty bucks
  • It wont scratch your Q2 and saves your neck for Chicago Just order it and enjoy the trip...

Rarely post but saw this and had to chime in. Oh man this reminds me of when my brother bought his first high-end camera right before a big trip to Chicago and spent three days running around downtown trying to find a decent strap because his bank account was already hurting from the body itself. It turned into a whole ordeal involving lost luggage and a dead phone battery in the freezing wind by the Bean. Are you planning on carrying it crossbody or just around your neck the whole time?

> honestly I have no idea if $100+ for a piece of rope is insane or normal in the Leica world Look. Leica tax is real. People pay stupid money for branding. You dont need to. Listen. Forget the silk rope. Get something that actually holds up. I put a Peak Design Leash Camera Strap V3 on mine. Costs around fifty bucks. It wont scratch your lugs if you use the plastic anchors right. Nylon webbing is tough as nails. Similar to grade 8 hardware... doesnt stretch, wont rot. Cooph is okay. Kinda stiff tho. Check a local camera shop before your trip. Grab the Peak Design. You wont regret it.
