honestly fed up with the stock strap that comes with the Leica Q2, it keeps digging into my neck and honestly feels like sandpaper after like twenty minutes of walking around. Im leaving for a two-week trip to Chicago next month and I really need something comfortable before then because last time I came back with actual bruises and thats just ridiculous for a camera this expensive. my logic was maybe I should just get a cheap leather one off amazon but then im worried about the lugs failing or it snapping cause Ive heard horror stories tbh. so I was looking at rope straps and leather ones but theres just way too many options and my budget is around $100 max cause Ive already spent way too much on gear lately. what strap are you guys actually using that doesnt hurt after hours of shooting?

So funny you ask this — last summer I made the mistake of taking a random generic leather strap on a brutal walking trip and my neck was literally bruised for days. NGL it ruined half the vacation. Adding my two cents after testing a few different setups since then:

  • Peak Design Slide Lite: Super smooth seatbelt nylon, total gamechanger for heavy walking. Pros: insanely adjustable, anchor system is bulletproof. Cons: looks a bit too tactical/techwear for some peoples taste.
  • Hyperion Camera Straps Rope Camera Strap: Made from soft climbing yarn. Pros: cheap around thirty bucks, extremely comfy, zero chafing. Cons: no quick adjust feature so you gotta commit to a length. Skip the sketchy Amazon leather and grab one of these instead...

Like someone mentioned, cheap Amazon leather is a gamble you don't want to take with a Q2. I've been through three different strap styles over the years and most trends are garbage. Quick tips: check your lug protectors so the metal doesn't scratch the body, and adjust the length so it rides high on your hip. Peak Design Slide Lite works if you want nylon, or just get a solid rope strap and be done with it.

So funny you ask this... last summer my neck was literally bleeding in Chicago. Are you planning to wear it cross-body or just around your neck?

Stop looking at overpriced boutique leather. I stopped paying the Leica premium years ago and made my own gear. If you want comfort for under $100, focus on materials that don't dig in.

  • Peak Design Slide Lite is my go-to. It costs about $55 and the seatbelt-style nylon is smooth enough that it won't irritate your skin. I've used mine for five years and the cost per year is negligible.
  • Hyperion Camera Straps Rope Camera Strap is a solid budget alternative at roughly $30. It is soft, doesn't chafe, and is much stronger than the flimsy stock strap. Don't buy cheap leather off Amazon. If the stitching fails, your camera is gone. I saved a ton by using high-quality hardware and basic climbing rope for my other bodies. Stick to these proven brands.

idk im no expert but i just looked into all this stuff last week and honestly my brain is fried from reading too many forum reviews. Like someone mentioned, you really dont wanna trust a random cheap strap with an expensive body. Anyway speaking of Chicago trips, my buddy once lost his whole wallet at Navy Pier because he was using one of those velcro running pouches... wait why was I talking about wallets? Oh right, straps. My bad lol
