So I was looking at Artisan & Artist straps and also the classic Leica rope ones since Im taking my Q2 on a two-week trip to Japan next month, but my budget is kinda tight right now... I read that rope is super comfy for all-day walking in Tokyo, though some people say it digs into your neck if the cam is heavy. What are you guys actually using?

Are you planning on wearing it crossbody or just round your neck? Btw, check out Hyperion Camera Straps Rope Camera Strap — super budget-friendly and comfy for all-day walking.

^ This. Also, check out the Peak Design Leash for around forty bucks. It uses heavy-duty anchor links rated for two hundred pounds. No thin wire rings to snap. I use them on heavy shop gear and they never fail. Buy once, cry once.

Rarely post here, but saw this and had to chime in — man, your post just gave me flashbacks to when my cousin prepped for his Tokyo trip. He spent three entire weeks obsessing over camera straps, bought like five different ones (all way out of his budget), and ended up leaving them all on his kitchen table the morning he left for the airport. He had to use a random shoestring for the first four days until he found a little second-hand shop in Shibuya.

Tbh im no expert but I just looked into this last week because I was stressing about the exact same thing for my upcoming trip. Honestly, those fancy brand name straps are super cool but you can definitely find way cheaper alternatives that feel just as good for all-day walking. Just a heads up though, definitely watch out for the cheap knock-off rope straps on certain sites because the ring connectors can be super thin and might actually scratch up the side of your camera body or worse, just snap entirely. You really dont wanna risk dropping a Q2 on the pavement in Tokyo. Make sure whatever you pick has some kind of leather or fabric buffer between the metal ring and the camera lugs. Itll save you a headache and some nasty scratches later on...

Like someone mentioned, the Peak Design system is popular, but honestly, those plastic anchor links are bulky and hang awkwardly when you're trying to slide the Q2 into a bag. Everyone suggests them for convenience, but real owners often find the aesthetic doesn't match a Leica. Before I recommend a specific alternative, are you planning to wear the camera cross-body or just around your neck while walking? If you want something functional without the brand hype, check these out:
