So I finally bit the bullet and bought an M11 because I love how it looks but man I have no idea what to put it in. Everything online is so expensive and I dont wanna drop another grand on a bag after spending so much on the camera already. Im based in London so it rains like, all the time, and I need something that wont look totally ridiculous when Im just walking around the city. Im a complete newbie with all this gear stuff so sorry if this is a super basic question but what is the best bag for a beginner that isnt gonna break the bank...?
tbh ive been through like three different camera bags for my rangefinders over the years and honestly most of them are massively overpriced hype. tried aBillingham Hadley Pro years ago and it was garbage for the price tag, things may have changed now but why bother when you live in London and need something lowkey? just grab the Crumpler Muli 4000 or look at a basic Domke F-5XB canvas bag. the Domke is under 150 quid, doesnt scream expensive gear at all, and handles the drizzle fine if you wax it a bit. u really dont need to overcomplicate an M11 setup... just keep it simple and spend the rest of your cash on film or a decent strap instead of wasting it on luxury leather rubbish.
Look, stop overthinking it. You don't need a designer bag for a camera. Get a Tenba BYOB 9 Camera Insert and put it inside any water-resistant backpack you already own. It costs about 40 quid. It protects the M11 perfectly and keeps your kit dry in London rain without screaming 'expensive camera inside' to every thief in the city. Listen, keep it simple and spend your money on glass instead.
Just catching up on this thread — wait, no, I mean before I suggest anything specific, are you carrying just the M11 body with one lens, or do you need space for extra gear?
Noted!
Same boat, watching this
Look, idks much about fancy gear bags. I spend my days turning wrenches. But I hear canvas messenger bags work fine for keeping gear dry in the rain. Just get something tough that wont fall apart. Listen, dont overthink it. Find a sturdy old bag and stuff a rag in the bottom for padding. Simple as that.
Rarely post but saw this and had to chime in — like someone mentioned earlier, just grab a cheap insert. Pair it with Bellroy Classic Backpack for London rain.
