What is the best microphone for DJI Osmo Pocket 4P?

So I'm finally upgrading from my old iPhone 11 that I've had forever. The battery barely lasts half a day and the camera struggles so bad in low light, which is my main pain point right now. I'm super excited to get the Osmo Pocket 3 (wait, title says 4P... I mean whatever the latest one is!). I want something small with great battery and a solid camera for travel vlogs.

I've been doing some research online. I read that the DJI Mic 2 is basically made for it and works seamlessly out of the box. But then some people on Reddit say the Rode Wireless PRO is better if you want absolute best audio quality and float 32-bit backup recording. So I was thinking, is the Rode worth the extra bulk and hassle, or should I just stick with the DJI ecosystem? My budget is around $200-$300 for audio.

My logic was to go with DJI for simplicity, but I'm worried about wind noise outdoors. Where I got stuck is whether the built-in windscreen on the DJI Mic 2 is actually enough or if I'll need deadcats anyway. What is actually the best microphone setup for this camera?

I'm no expert but I just looked into this last week. I went with the DJI Mic 2 for $349 because the pairing is instant and deadcats help with wind.

I've been through three different wireless systems over the years, and honestly, keep it simple for a vlogging setup. I tried using the Rode Wireless PRO 32-bit float years ago when it was just the original versions, and the extra cables and transmitter bulk were garbage for a small camera like the Osmo. You end up not wanting to carry it. The DJI Mic 2 is the only one that makes sense because the receiver is built-in. Regarding wind noise, don't rely on the built-in windscreen. It is insufficient for anything beyond a light breeze. Buy a third-party set of fur deadcats. They cost ten dollars and will solve your wind issues immediately without needing to switch ecosystems or deal with complicated audio gear.

I'm no expert but I just looked into this last week and completely agree with keeping it simple. If you do go the DJI route, look into the DJI Mic 2 standalone transmitter since you don't even need the dual set if you are solo vlogging. It retails around $99 by itself, saving you money from the full kit.

Yep been there done that. Can confirm everything said above is spot on.
