The current Nikon Coolpix P900 (83X zoom)

Nikon Japan has just filed a new patent for the 100x optical zoom range for Nikon 1/2.3″ sensor compact camera. This new camera will have 100X (24-2400mm) optical zoom range and is rumored to be called Nikon Coolpix P4000.

Last year, Nikon announced the Nikon Coolpix P900, featuring the world’s longest optical zoom lens, with an 83x optical zoom lens (Amazon| Adorama| B&H).
